Volunteer on-site
Practical NGO volunteering placements: Lend us a hand in the heart of Cameroon! During your on-site placement with REWAC, you will experience the power of inter-cultural exchange – working with local and international volunteers, the indigenous ethnic ‘Baka’ group and our community of migrants from over 26 countries. Help REWAC combat the refugee crisis by promoting welfare programs and legal support, and delivering life-changing aid. There is no fee to volunteer with REWAC, whilst on-site volunteers are required to cover their own subsistence costs. REWAC supports volunteers with pretrip assistance (including choosing your accommodation), airport pick up and drop off, on-site orientation and social activities free of charge. Volunteers may stay on-site for a minimum of 2 weeks to 9 months. The minimum age for on-site volunteering is 18, with placements available for Individuals, Groups, Retirees, Disabled. REWAC manages on-site accommodation for volunteers. You will pay for your own accommodation, costs vary depending on which options you choose, the average cost is approx. $400 USD/month. Accommodation options include hotel or apartment and private bathroom with hot water shower. REWAC manages on-site food and drink for volunteers. You will pay for your own food and drink, costs vary depending on which options you choose, the average cost is approx $200 USD/month. Most volunteers choose to have 3 meals a day plus tea and coffee.
Volunteer online
Online volunteers are tasked with managing REWAC’s online presence and creating impactful stories to attract supporters and donors. Volunteers may also assist in identifying possible beneficiaries in the local community who are in need of financial assistance, and developing fundraising proposals to support their needs. No professional experience is needed, but if you consider yourself savvy in communication, research, photography, or social media, then you could be a perfect fit! REWAC is currently open to accepting applications from all volunteers, but are particularly interested in digital marketing and video volunteers: As Digital Marketing Assistant you will assist the REWAC marketing team with planning, execution and analysis of marketing and fundraising content for a range of digital channels including web, social, email and SEO. Pioneer content creation to increase reach and engagement and help us reach our fundraising goal. Work in an international team who will support your digital marketing development. Become a content rock star! As Video Assistant, you will plan and edit a suite of short videos to tell the story of REWAC. You will build working relationships with those in front of and behind the camera, and use your critical and flexible creativity to improve video output. Limited video experience is desirable but the most important thing we’re looking for in this volunteer role is a desire to learn. It may be possible to receive college credit for the volunteer placement and it can also be pursued as an internship. Please inquire to learn more about how to set up a for-credit placement.
